The Bay Horse, situated a pleasant walk from York's city centre and close to the railway station, generally impresses guests with its spacious and clean rooms. The pub downstairs offers a cosy atmosphere and amazing food, making it a great value for money option with plenty of choices; it is also conveniently located near Sainsbury's Local. Some guests have, however, mentioned that the beds could be more comfortable. The hotel's proximity to attractions such as the bar walls and Everyman cinema is a definite plus for many.

A decent place, but some issues

friendly staffcity center locationessential amenitiesnoise levellate night musicpub closing time
The staff was friendly. I liked that the location was close to the city center. The room had all the essentials, convenient.
Our room was quite noisy. We could hear a music quiz past 11 p.m. This made it hard to relax or watch television. It wasn't ideal. The pub's closing time was supposed to be 10 p.m., but the noise continued much later.

loud noise levellate night disturbance
The noise was too much. The rooms sit right above the bar, so some sound is expected, but this was beyond acceptable. At midnight, they put on a boxing match at full volume on the TV. Everyone was shouting. I called to ask when the pub closed. I was told, "not for ages. ".
